"friday faves" - cool collage

Melanie at M* has given me the perfect excuse with her Friday Favourites to blog about this very cool collage of Sienna's ...

It started yesterday and like a Sara Lee Cheesecake layer upon layer was added. I suggested on a number of occasions that perhaps the collage was finished but my minimalist desires were met with a firm, "No Mummy" as she continued finding bits and pieces to add.

This morning I offered a fresh piece of paper for another collage. She suggested more layers were needed on the original one. *Sigh*

Finally, a piece of scrap basket fabric she bought with her own money at the quilt shop was added over the top. I was freaking out at her desire to completely cover up all her work until she calmed me down explaining that one version was night ...

... and one was day

Clearly, I have a lot to learn (about patience ... about collage ...)

You can play along with your own Friday Favourites here.

  1. Children can teach us so much can't they. This is a great story. I know what you mean, though, they wield a glue stick some times can be a bit of a worry.

  2. What a fantastic looking collage! Hope you are well Mel, just about to flick through your bblog and check up on the green quilt. going well?

  3. Hey Kate - not doing too bad. Quilt top is finito! Will blog about it tonight (hopefully?). More details soon ... Are you south of the border yet?

  4. Awwww, isn't she fantastic, what do we know anyway.... we are just older not wiser!!

  5. Hi Mel,
Can't wait to see your quilt top, the fabrics you picked were gorgeous so I bet it looks great!
South of the border indeed! We arrived last Sunday and move into our place tomorrow. It has been a long week of house hunting and poor little Alfie has quite a bad chest infection so we were at the bloody doctors this morning.
    How are things your way?
