my lovely dad

A close friend lost her Dad during the week and as I dropped flowers around to her place she said through her
tears, "Just call your Dad". Since this blog is supposed to be about finding and documenting things to feel grateful for I thought there is no place better to start than with my gorgeous Dad. *Sigh* where to start with this beautiful, beautiful human being ... he is for me the ultimate role model of a 'present' parent. He was (and still is) always so generous with his time with my sister and me and at the same time was so tender and loving towards our Mum. As a grandfather (or 'Poppy' as he has been dubbed) he is unfailing in his energy levels and loving tenderness and humour with my children (see below!). So Dad, what more can I say but thank you and I love you!

lunch time introduction

so I guess it's only fitting I should write the first posting from my kitchen whilst trying to make lunch for everybody (egg and lettuce wraps without the lettuce in case you are interested...). I am surprised I have not worn well trodden marks into this kitchen floor for all the time I spend here! So anyway, the point of this blog is to find and document the little, seemingly ordinary moments of my day that help me to stay in the present moment and feel so very grateful for all that I have. I guess in essence, I am moving my daily grateful journal (which I must admit probably doesn't happen every day), over to this context in the hope that I will feel more obliged to really concentrate on finding little things daily to be grateful for and to keep a (b)log of! Oh and also it gives me a good excuse to get out the new camera and fire off a few shots each day to share!

Whoops hungry small people waiting to be fed!
